Tennant, Agnes (1764 87)
Eldest daughter of John Tennant of Glenconner, by his second marriage. She is Burns's 'auld acquaintance, Nancy' in the 'Epistle to James Tennant'. She married George Reid, a farmer at Barquharie, who loaned Burns the pony on which to ride to Edinburgh in 1786. Burns wrote to thank him immediately on arriving in the capital, and sent Agnes a copy of the Kilmarnock Edition.
