Tennant, James (1755 1835)
Eldest son of John Tennant of Glenconner, Burns wrote for him the 'Epistle to James Tennant', which contains references to many of Tennant's numerous relations and expresses the hope that James himself will have: "Mony a laugh, and mony a drink, And aye enough o' needfu' clink."
He also was Burns's 'auld comrade dear and brither sinner'. He was known familiarly as 'The miller' because he had Ochiltree Mill. A neighbour is aid to have described him as 'a dungeon of wit'.
